5 Great Ways To Boost Your Catering Business Profile

The catering industry is exciting and innovative, but competition is fierce. Catching the eye of potential clients, customers, and even investors can be difficult in a crowded marketplace. But the good news is that there are more ways than ever to stand out.

Below, we take a look at some of the best and most effective ways to boost the profile of your catering business. That way, you can attract customers who will love your products, support your business, and spread the word!

1) Get Sociable

Social media platforms have exploded in popularity in recent years. They are no longer just a way of staying in touch with friends and family, but are now an essential business tool.

One of the most effective ways of publicising your business is to build your online profile. This can mean with a dedicated website or web page, an Instagram or Facebook page, or even by getting in touch with local news outlets, or online magazines, with an exciting story.

The key thing is that the information you share is engaging — perhaps it interests people by including either a great image, a snappy caption, or a discount — while it should also be up to date, and quick to read.

Your online presence can be as minimal or as elaborate as you like. Minimal examples that require very little maintenance might be a Facebook page to share your menu and reviews, or a web page that includes your address, menu, and any current offers.

More extensive examples might be an Instagram account with a hashtag that allows people to share their photos of your food and decor, along with a great website, and a dedicated blog exploring upcoming issues in the catering industry.

Whatever you choose, and however much time you are able to devote to it, you can find an online option to suit you and boost your business.

2) Embrace Your Values

Do you have an issue or theme you’re really passionate about? Perhaps you’re keen on the environment and minimising waste, or you love to use local and seasonal ingredients, or even to support specific charities.

Whatever your passion and values are, allowing them to shine through in your catering business can be a great way to raise your profile.

Why not launch a plant-based menu or leftovers scheme if you are all about Going Green? If you love a specific cuisine or ingredient, then why not have dedicated theme nights or events?

Whatever your niche, you are bound to find likeminded people who will be delighted to spread your message and get involved.

3) Collaborate

Connecting with others is a great way to raise your profile and raise theirs too. Consider if there is a possible collaboration you could do with another business, a charity, or even a celebrity.

If there is another business you use consistently and rate highly, perhaps arrange to advertise them through your website and for them to advertise you through theirs.

At Caterquip, for example, we collaborate with many professional chefs who are delighted with our products. Their reviews are visible on our website and have proved a great way to raise our profile.

4) Take To The Streets

Street food and markets are becoming increasingly popular in the UK. They are an especially common choice for a younger demographic, and many catering companies are getting in on the act.

If it is possible for you, investigate whether to have a stall on a food market or take a mobile truck to certain events. This is not only a fun experience with lots of lucrative potential, it can also be a great way to bring your food and your business to a new audience.

5) Offer Great Deals

With rent prices rising, and profit margins often tighter than ever, deals and discounts can be tricky for many catering businesses. But when properly planned and done correctly, they can be a great boost.

Discounts — especially those offered on a specific day, 2 for 1 offers, or other examples for pairs and groups — can be so popular that they offset any losses.

When customers feel they are getting great value they are also more likely to return and tell their friends — boosting profit in spite of the discounted rate.

Whether you choose to use some of the suggestions above or get completely creative, boosting your profile is a great way to generate sales, reach new customers — and have more fun!
